The Centre for community Development and Research Network has commenced the monthly distribution of WFP General Food Assistance to targeted individuals and families affected by violent conflict in Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe state for the month of February.
Provision of in-kind food assistance remains a vital component of WFP’s intervention in the northeast of Nigeria, especially in areas where people are cut off from their normal sources of food and cannot access enough food to meet their needs.
In Gulani Local government Area of Yobe state, were conflict affected population are receiving WFP’s intervention, CCDRN is reaching some four thousand three hundred and eighty eight individuals comprising one thousand seventeen households on behalf of the World Food Programme (WFP), a leading humanitarian organization saving lives, changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
The WFP’s food assistance being managed and implement by CCDRN includes basic staples like Cereals, pulses, oil and salt to prevent malnutrition and meet basic food needs.
The food distribution which commenced on the 20th of February is set to be concluded on the 22nd of February 2020, barring any last minute changes.
